Mi 10 Ultra Name Confirmed; Colour Options, Posters, Specifications Leak Online
Xiaomi will launch the Mi 10 Ultra at the company’s 10th anniversary launch event on August 11.
Xiaomi is hosting a 10th anniversary launch event on August 11, wherein it will launch the most premium model of the Mi 10 series. This was largely reported to be called the Mi 10 Pro Plus, but now co-founder Lei Jun has confirmed that this device will be called the Mi 10 Ultra in the global market. Running up to the rumoured launch, the Mi 10 Ultra cases were also leaked online, along with detailed banner images. These images show that the Mi 10 Ultra may come in a transparent back cover option as well. Additionally, the phone is tipped to pack up to 16GB of RAM and offer 120x zoom.
Jun has taken to Weibo to confirm that the global name of the upcoming Mi 10 series phone will be the Mi 10 Ultra. He says that the China variant will be called the Mi 10 Supreme Commemorative Edition to commemorate that 10 years of Xiaomi business. He shared the China retail box image for the device and it has the Xiaomi 10th anniversary logo on top of it.
A separate leak, again on Weibo, suggests that the Mi 10 Ultra will come in ceramic and transparent back panel finishes. The leak suggests that the Mi 10 Ultra ceramic colour option comes in 8GB RAM + 256GB storage option and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage option. The transparent back finish is tipped to come in 12GB RAM + 256GB storage option and 16GB RAM + 256GB storage option.
Tipster Bhuvnesh Bagri has leaked official cases of the Mi 10 Ultra. It reveals that the device will have an elongated capsule-shaped rear camera module placed on the top left portion of the back panel. The flip cover up front has a small notification panel that displays the time and date.
Furthermore, the tipster has also leaked posters of the Mi 10 Ultra online, showing the device in the transparent finish. The device is also seen in a white finish that may be the ceramic model. The rear camera setup is also seen in these posters and it shows quad cameras placed one below the other. There is a main periscope sensor up top that is listed to offer 120x zoom. Previous leaks suggest that the device will be powered by the Snapdragon 865 SoC and come with high refresh rate. All details should be revealed at the launch event next week.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Series, Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 May Launch on August 5: Report
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 phones are expected to be unveiled via an Unpacked 2020 digital event due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series and the Galaxy Fold 2 may launch on August 5, according to an online report. The phones are expected to be unveiled via an Unpacked 2020 digital event due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. Samsung is yet to make any official announcement regarding the matter. The Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 is expected to be the successor of the original Samsung Galaxy Fold foldable phone launched last year. It is rumoured to come with a bigger external display, ultra-thin glass protection, and S Pen support.
According to a report by a South Korea publication, citing a Samsung Electronics staff member, Samsung is mulling the August 5 date for the launch of Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series and Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 phones.
“Internal discussions are taking place, but the plan to hold the Galaxy Unpacked event on August 5 is being reviewed favourably,” report says.
Samsung will reportedly not be hosting its traditional physical Unpacked event in New York, but may instead opt for launching the devices digitally.
“As COVID-19 is still spreading and anti-racism protests are worsening in the US, this year's event is likely to be held online,” the report says citing an unnamed industry source.
Samsung, in its latest Q1 2020 earnings report, had indicated that the Galaxy Note 20 series and the Galaxy Fold 2 are set to launch in the second half of 2020.
The Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 is expected to be priced at between $1,880 and $1895 (roughly Rs. 1,44,000), and shipping is reported to begin in September. Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series is reported to include three models – Samsung Galaxy Note 20, Samsung Galaxy Note 20+ and Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The three phones are expected to see differences in cameras and battery.

This is what the Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earphones 2
Ever since the nationwide lockdown has come into effect, I have seen a lot of people in my colony attending calls using their Apple AirPods. I see them every day, around the same time, walking on their terrace, AirPods hanging from the ears. These white earbuds are extremely popular because they are so good. But they are pricey too.
Enter Mi True Wireless Earphones 2, a pair of truly wireless earbuds from Xiaomi. While they bear an uncanny resemblance to the AirPods, the earbuds sound great and are light on the pocket. After using the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 for the past week, here’s what I think.
Realme Buds Air review
Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 price in India: Rs 4,499
Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earphones 2: Fit and finish
From the design point of view, there is nothing special about the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2. They look just like AirPods barring a minor design change. They have a similar earpiece as the AirPods do, except the stem is on the thicker side. The new buds come in a white colour option along with a matching plastic case. By the way, both the buds and the charging case have a matte finish making them less prone to scratches.
The buds are lightweight, and although Xiaomi claims they weigh just 4.5 grams, they felt heavier than the AirPods. Anyway, the buds fit just fine in my ears. I have never experienced them falling out even while I was doing Yoga or strolling on the terrace; they have stayed in my ears.
Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earphones 2: Case and pairing
The case is slightly different from that of the AirPods. It is not only bigger but also has sharp edges. Just open the top-flap and keep the buds back in the case. You can also find magnets present on the bottom of each of the buds. This allows them to stay secure when tucked away inside of the charging case.
When the case is flipped open, a white light flashes. There’s a button on the side so you can pair or re-pair them. I had no trouble pairing the buds with my iPhone. Pairing Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 with a select few Xiaomi smartphones is way easier. As I found while pairing the buds with the Mi 10, you only need to turn on the Bluetooth on your phone, open the case and the buds automatically recognise the device. The only feature that is missing from the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 is that the case does not support wireless charging. Although wireless charging is not a must-have feature, there are truly wireless earbuds in this segment that do offer such wireless charging
Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earphones 2: Sound quality
I am not getting into the technical aspects of the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2, as they hardly matter to average users. I believe you are more interested in how they sound. Well, I listened to everything from Prince to Kanye West to Dua Lipa to Lizzo and even loud Punjabi tracks. The sound quality is noticeably better than other truly wireless earbuds prices in the same segment. The base is clearer and louder, which I think is the biggest issue with affordable wireless earbuds. Having said that, Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 aren’t comparable to expensive options like the AirPods or Galaxy Buds in terms of audio quality. Still, I am happy that at least now there’s a pair of truly wireless earbuds with excellent sound quality in the budget segment. But my only issue with these buds is the lack of app support. There is no way I can customise sound or EQ settings.
Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earphones 2: Microphone and controls
Attending Zoom or regular calls wasn’t an issue on the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2. In fact, calls were clear. I didn’t hear anyone complaining that my voice was breaking while on a call. The connection between my iPhone 11 and Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 was solid, too.
Interacting with the buds is easy. Double-tapping on the right earbud play/pauses the music that you are currently listening to, and double-tap on the left earbud prompts the voice assistant on the phone. Just take off your buds and your music will be paused automatically. The buds can’t do volume adjustments, something I wish Xiaomi had considered while designing the product.
The battery life is also great. The case charges in roughly an hour via USB-C and will charge the buds three times. You’ll get around four hours of constant playback with or a total of 14 hours using the case. You’ll probably get close to that – at least, that’s what I’ve observed in my testing.
Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earphones 2: Should you buy?
Before I started using the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2, I wasn’t sure about many things. For someone who has an affinity for Sony or Sennheiser when it comes to headphones, I was quite impressed by how Xiaomi’s truly wireless earbuds performed. They offer a lot for the money and that’s what Xiaomi stands for. That said, the earbuds aren’t perfect. While they do come with IPX4 water-resistant rating, excellent sound quality, and decent battery life, features like wireless charging are missing. While I was not expecting Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 to have noise cancellation at this price point, at least the design could have been different. If you have never owned a pair of truly wireless earbuds, Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 can be a good buy.
Should You Delete Mitron — an 'Indian' TikTok Clone?
Mitron app's privacy issues explained.
Over 50 lakh people have downloaded an Indian TikTok clone called Mitron and the app is still being downloaded because TikTok is going through a bit of a crisis right now. Mitron's unique selling points appear to be its branding and the fact that it is Indian. While it's great that an Indian app is so popular, is this particular app safe to use? Should you download this app or skip it for safety's sake?
Mitron lets you upload short videos just like TikTok but unlike the Chinese app, Mitron does not have a privacy policy. The privacy policy defines how the app can use your data and it is supposed to mention important terms and conditions of using the app. Clearly that is not important at all for Mitron. If you go to the Google Play page for Mitron and click the privacy policy link at the bottom, it will take you to a site called shopkiller.in, which is a blank page.
Back to the app permissions. Mitron does ask for a lot of permissions on your Android phones. Again, a quick check on Google Play reveals that Mitron needs access to your photos, internal storage, camera, microphone, flashlight, and the ability to prevent your device from sleeping. Now we know that most of this is needed for a video sharing app, but if there is no privacy policy and the developer is an unknown entity, how do you know that your data is not being sold to shady advertising companies?
The developer's website is mitron.tv and if you open that website, it would redirect you to the Google Play page for Mitron until recently but at the time of writing it just showed a blank page. There is no website for an app with over 50 lakh downloads, and no privacy policy. Can you believe that? Mitron's developer was probably unprepared for its virality but you can't give people the benefit of the doubt when your personal information, your private videos, your stored photos, all of these are at stake.
Mitron needs to fix its privacy problems really soon, but until then, we wouldn't feel recommend using the app.
After knowing all of these things, do you still think you should use Mitron? Let us know via the comments.
